Ans. Biodiversity hotspot is the biographic region that is significant reservoir of biodiversity

and threatened with destruction. The term biodiversity refers to 25 biological areas around

the world that which have lost at least 70percent of their original habitat. The remaining natural habitat in these biodiversity hotspot is just 1.4percent of the land surface of the planet. In India it is considered as a mega biodiversity hotspot because of the following reasons.

1. There are found large numbers and variety of organisms in the India.

2. There are 40000 species of plants and 90000 species of animals are found.

3. The ecosystem populated by organism by India are diverted,

So we can say that india is mega hotspot of biodiversity.

B distinguish between biota of the pelagic and benthic zones of the oceans with examples

Ans Benthic zone include the rooted submerged plants and animals. The animals like crabs , fish, pawn lobster are found at bottom of the oceanic layer, Example benthos include worms, clams, lobster, sponges and other tiny organism that lives in bottom of sediment.

Pelagic zone plants are in the form of rooted micro algae. This includes the phytho and zoplankton . The mackrel , saradine ,tuna are commonly found in fish species in the zone.
